“Rendered Him No Longer Alive”

A terrorist enters Old Dominion University in Virginia, and shoots three students killing one. The terrorist was rushed by students from ROTC, who neutralized the assailant. An FBI official summed it up perfectly: They rendered him no longer alive. The assailant was not shot. Choke hold? Beaten? Not certain. Just no longer alive.

It is my impression that ROTC cadets are not eligible for active duty decorations. Perhaps Secretary of War Hegseth could issue an order making an exception in this case, and award the cadets Bronze Stars with V or another appropriate decoration. After all, they did face an armed enemy.
