Just A Matter Of Opinion

Arthur C. Clarke was a brilliant writer, but a muddled thinker. If God doesn’t say, “Do not murder,” it’s just me saying it. Others may say something else. It’s only my opinion.
In Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Russia, and Mao’s China, people said just the opposite. And who was to tell them they were wrong? Those sociopaths were worshiped as if they were gods.
If you undermine religion, you don’t get a tolerant paradise. You risk getting some freak like that telling you what to do. You can argue philosophy, but you can’t argue history. It actually happened, repeatedly.
