President Trump names new FBI Director Kash Patel to also be acting ATF Director. As acting director, he does not need Senate confirmation. And he is expected to curtail the ATF, if not to prepare it to be closed down. Newsmax reports:
Gun control groups have raised alarm about putting Patel in charge of the FBI, with Brady Campaign calling him a “known gun rights extremist.” Gun Owners of America, a gun rights group, called his confirmation as FBI director “a major victory for gun owners and constitutional rights advocates nationwide.”
But note that the words “rights” and “extremist” occur in the same sentence. Is it possible to be too “extreme” in your pursuit of rights? Or does viewing pursuit of rights as “extreme” mark THEM as the extremists?
The ATF was largely responsible for the disasters at Ruby Ridge and Waco. In case you believe the government is here to help, look them up. Even the Wikipedia versions should frighten you. More factual versions would frighten you more.
Yes, in both instances the FBI came in as “closer.” But the ATF set up the problems in the first place. The ATF needs scrutiny. At long last, now that scrutiny is coming. Even if nothing else happened last week, that should cause big smiles.
