More medical schools are no longer using the MCAT, an objective test to rank applicants, but instead are using race, gender, and a “holistic” interview to increase “diversity.” Airlines are using similar criteria for choosing student pilots. But “diversity” of what? Race, gender, and ethnic origin? Or diversity of skills needed for the crucial job at hand, with some possessing these skills, and some not? When other criteria exceed the safety of human life, you can be sure we are headed in the wrong direction.
