If Goldilocks hadn’t found porridge that was just right, she could have satisfied her hunger by eating the cold porridge, or waiting for the hot porridge to cool. We may not find the ideal candidate. Trump may be too hot, others too cool. But we’ll pick the best one available and then run with him.
The goal is to save our nation, not to feel good about ourselves while vainly seeking perfection. Besides, even if we did find the ideal candidate, he would want the ideal supporters, which surely leaves me out. The world may not meet our notions of perfection, but it’s the only world we’ve got.
