School Shooter Released On Bail

Accused 18-year-old high school shooter turns himself in. Four shot, one still critical. But would-be murderer released on $75,000 bail, probably meaning that his family put up only $7,500.

Releasing a school shooter on bail, especially a low bail that would probably be posted? Releasing an adult on bail after four attempted murders? Such ridiculous leniency after all the terrible school shootings?

Surely this happened in Chicago, where a deranged state’s attorney refused to file charges on gang-bangers after four people were shot, one fatally. Or perhaps in Portland, or San Francisco, or Los Angeles, where leftist district attorneys show more compassion for criminals than for victims.

But no, it happened in Arlington, Texas. If “be kind to criminals” has taken root even in Texas, we have a right to question whether the country has passed the point of no return. We can know this only in retrospect. All we can know for certain is that if we quit now and tap out, we will surely have passed the point of no return.

I was trained as a medical oncologist. I know something about not giving up. I survived a head-on collision at 50 mph when I was 25. I am familiar with going against the odds. So I say this: It’s our country, and it’s worth fighting for. It’s worth dying for. The time to give up is after we’re dead.

They are our streets – fight to keep them safe. They are our children – fight to control their education. It is our Constitution – vote against anyone who disrespects it.

Equity at the expense of equality? Safety at the expense of liberty? Mandates? Endless micro-managing? Ceaseless snooping? Time to shout “Enough!” before the country is America in name only.
