Bank of America To NYC Employees: Dress Down, No Jewelry

Bank of America to NYC employees: To avoid street robberies, dress down, don’t wear jewelry – even engagement and wedding rings. Do you imagine that this chaos can continue indefinitely? Do you believe that when not just tellers and clerks are assaulted, but also top management, that this will be tolerated? Either the new mayor will do a “Giuliani” and allow the police to enforce the law, or the wealthy will hire private security who may, or may not, be well trained or knowledgeable about defendants’ rights.

Those who found the NYPD too vigorous will rue the day they exchanged it for private security. In the Middle Ages, there were no organized police. Ordinary people had to fend for themselves, while the nobility went around with men-at-arms who were bound by no rules at all. This is one of many reasons that the term “medieval” is not considered a compliment.
