No, Money Is Not The Most Important Thing

Kurt Schlichter is a retired Army colonel, lawyer, and author. He notes that Disney is losing millions on “Snow White” and wonders aloud whether Hollywood would rather succeed or be woke.

This raises a basic question: What do people want? Yes, we want many things, but what do we REALLY want? To make money, or course, but not only that. Also to be accepted, but not by the general public. No, who cares what they think, assuming those ignorant, stupid losers think at all. Hollywood wants to be accepted by their kind of people. They went to college, often grad school. They harbor all the woke, progressive mantras. Those are the people Hollywood caters to.

Did Anheuser Busch aim to please beer drinkers when it nearly wrecked Bud Light with a woke agenda? Did Hollywood aim to please families with children when it produced a woke “Snow White”? No, they aimed to please their leftist friends and to be invited to the best cocktail parties. The money was clearly secondary.

In World War I, Germany went to war with its biggest trading partner, France. In World War II, Germany did it again. Germans sought glory and world domination. But in both cases, Germany wound up impoverished and disgraced. Hollywood is subject to the same mental disorder, as are beer brewers and other businesses.

True, the disorder is self correcting. Eventually tyrants lose their wars, and woke businesses lose their customers. But meanwhile, a great deal of destruction ensues. Too sad for words.
