Talk of a divorce between red and blue states has left the realm of tinfoil hats and become mainstream. Such a divorce would be extremely difficult and possibly violent. But what then? When an abusive relationship ends, one party – or perhaps both – get a restraining order, also called an order of protection. The abusive partner is ordered to keep away from the other.
But how can that work here? Who can force control-freak progressives from harassing conservatives, who want only to be left alone? Who could enforce such an order? No, a national divorce would work only if accompanied by a national restraining order, which is impossible. So we will just have to learn to get along.
